New Restaurant Huge Hit!

INDIAN LAKE, OH: Woody's Diner at Indian Lake opened July 21, 2011 to larger than expected crowds. With more than 700 customers the first day and even more customers on day two, Dan Stinebaugh states they have been constantly busy since opening for breakfast at 6:00 AM on T

hursday.
Woody's is family owned and operated and features a large menu which includes salads, steaks, wraps, sandwiches, pizza, wings and more. A customer favorite, the diner is recognized for their "real" broasted chicken dinners. Breakfast is served form 6:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
The diner is famous for the "Big Woody Challenge" which is a 4 pound cheeseburger with a pound of fries and pint of slaw. Challengers are given the cost of their meal and a Big Woody T-shirt if they finish within one hour. Both the restaurant and challenge are named after Ohio State College Football Hall of Fame coach Woody Hayes.
Located at 7838 SR 366 in Russells Point, Woody's Diner completely remodeled and enlarged the former Thirsty Turtle location. The new decor is dominated by Ohio State Buckeye's football memorabilia and photos. With plenty of tables in the dining area and numerous TV screens in the large bar area, Woody's is a great place to catch the latest OSU game. The outdoor patio features a second fully equipped bar and dining area.
Local resident William Dunlap states he has been five times in three days and is pleased to see a new restaurant that offers great food at a reasonable price.
Dan Stinebaugh is also owner and operator of Woody's Diner in Wapakoneta, Ohio. According to daughter Brittany Stinebaugh, the Stinebaughs spend a lot of time at Indian Lake and saw an opportunity in the area to open a second location.
Dine-in, carryout or free delivery, Woody's Diner is a touchdown for Indian Lake!
Indian Lake Boaters Cited During Operation Dry Water Weekend

In 2010, state watercraft officers contacted 3,810 boaters and made 11 arrests for boating while intoxicated during the Operation Dry Water enforcement weekend. A total of 198 other alcohol and boating-related violations were issued in addition to 754 warnings. No boating-related fatalities were recorded during last year’s Operation Dry Water weekend in Ohio (June 25-27, 2010).
Alcohol is involved in about one of every three boating-related accidents on Ohio waterways. While state watercraft officers and local marine patrols are always on the lookout for impaired boat operators, Operation Dry Water (www.operationdrywater.org) is an organized national effort that focuses greater awareness of the need for boaters to boat smart, boat sober and make a commitment to staying safe on the water.
And it’s not just drunk boaters who are the focus of marine officers. Drug-impaired boating and drug-related arrests are more prevalent today on the nation’s waterways, which increases the risk to boating safety for all boaters. Operation Dry Water also seeks to remove boat operators who may be under the influence of drugs while boating as a means of enhancing waterway safety.

ODNR News Release
COLUMBUS, OH – The Lakeview Fire Department of Logan County will receive a 5000-watt generator through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Forestry.
The division will provide the equipment, which has an original value of $8,332, at no charge to the fire department through the U.S. Department of Defense Fire Fighter Property (FFP) Program.
“The FFP program helps local fire officials obtain important fire-fighting equipment that their limited budgets might not otherwise permit,” said Robert Boyles, chief of the ODNR Division of Forestry. “The budget for a typical Ohio rural volunteer fire department is $35,000 per year, with some fire departments operating on $10,000 or less.”
Items obtained through the federal program are provided to local fire departments under a special agreement. The agreement requires that the equipment be placed into service within six months and remain in service for a minimum of two years. Once the Division of Forestry certifies that this equipment service requirement has been met, the local fire department assumes complete ownership of the equipment.
Equipment available to fire departments through this program include fire engines, tanker trucks, pick-up trucks, vans, portable generators and pumps, compressors, hoses, nozzles, protective clothing and other safety equipment.
The Division of Forestry currently has cooperative wildfire suppression agreements with 325 fire departments located within the division’s fire protection area, which includes eastern and southeastern Ohio, as well as the Maumee State Forest area of northwestern Ohio. Fire departments interested in the program should contact Rick Maier at 740-774-1596, ext. 110 for information.
Ohio grows more acres of trees than corn and soybeans combined. The ODNR Division of Forestry works to promote the wise use and sustainable management of Ohio’s public and private woodlands. To learn more about Ohio’s woodlands, visit www.ohiodnr.com/forestry.

Gruesome Dog Massacre
Gruesome dog massacre leaves Logan County residents with another reason not to chain their dogs or otherwise leave them unattended.
These otherwise loved and well cared for family pets were stolen from owners back yards. Many believed their dogs had simply run away. Many of the massacred dogs were skinned by what authorities believe to be an underground animal pelt ring. The dogs were discovered dumped in a Logan County creek.
As National Dog Day approaches next week, Area Rep for Dogs Deserve Better is launching a campaign to help educate owners to the dangers of chaining their dogs. Edeena Dunlap is the new Logan County Rep and in memory of these loving pets, she is offering free home visits with educational materials and tips on alternatives to chaining to keep their dogs safe.
